You can take Education or Gender and Women's Studies as a major for a Bachelor of Arts degree. The courses range from 100 level to 300 level and are designed to give you knowledge and understanding of education, its role, impact and use. A BA in Education or Gender and Women's Studies will enhance your academic and professional career and provide you with knowledge and skills which can be transfered to other fields. The BA can be completed in three years full time. Major Subject Requirements Education Six courses from EDUC 100-399 including at least four from EDUC 200-399 and at least two at 300 level. Gender and Women's Studies Six GEND courses including at least two at 300 level. The degree should include subjects that support the major and are relevant to a future career. Intending social workers, psychologists, welfare officers, careers advisers and policy analysts, for example, might plan to include appropriate 200- and 300-level courses in Psychology and Social Policy. Timetable All EDUC and GEND courses have 2-3 hours of lectures and/or tutorials each week. Please check in the prospectuses for details of lecture times. Tutorial times are arranged in the first week of courses. You should plan to attend all lectures and tutorials. You should plan to spend approximately 12-18 hours per week on each course. Assessment All EDUC and most GEND (except GEND 101) courses are internally assessed by a combination of essays and assignments. In some courses, class tests or a presentation may replace one of the written assignments. There are no examinations. At the beginning of each course students receive a course outline. This contains all the necessary information about the course including the number of lectures and tutorials, the course content, recommended readings, and information about the assignments.
