Program Introduction The Chinese Language Program serves to promote the learning of Mandarin, China's official language, throughout the world and help other countries acquire a better understanding of China. The academic year is divided into two semesters (Spring Semester: Feb-June/Autumn Semester: Sep-Jan; each semester consists of 18 weeks). The lessons are taught by instructors from the Tsinghua University Chinese Learning Center for Foreigners (TUCLCFF). Qualifications of Applicants Any foreigner, overseas Chinese, or compatriot from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who would like to learn Mandarin at Tsinghua University, who has had formal education at the high school level or above, has good moral character, and is between the ages of 18-55 and in good health may apply directly to the Foreign Student Affairs Office of Tsinghua University. Application Schedule There are two semesters in one academic year. Deadline for Spring Semester: December 15th Deadline for Autumn Semester: June 15th. Application Requirements Applicants may submit or post the following materials to the Foreign Student Affairs Office before the application due date. Applications will not be accepted with insufficient materials. Applications via email or fax are not accepted. Materials to be submitted (Your materials will not be returned) 1. The completed Tsinghua University Application Form of Foreign Students (Download from the website) 2. Final schooling certificate and academic records (Copy) 3. A copy of the applicant’s passport 4. Any applicant who has studied at another university in China must submit a issued by the Foreign Students Office of that university. Fees Long-term students will have to pay tuition fee at the time of registration. The tuition fee will not be returned to students who drop out of the program and there will be no reduction in tuition fee for a late entrance. 1. Application Fee 400 Yuan (non-refundable) 2.
